Gujarat Lions vs Rising Pune Supergiant:
The thirteen game of the Indian Premier League 2017 will see teams struggling at the bottom of the table as Gujarat Lions compete against Rising Pune Supergiants at Rajkot. Gujarat Lions batting has been decent but top order players like Jason Roy and Brendon McCullum have yet to hit prime form despite getting off to good starts in the two games played in the competition. Aaron Finch, Dinesh Karthik, Suresh Raina and Dwayne Smith form the middle order as these players have been proven performers in the format for a long period of time. Finch and Raina will be key to side’s chances of getting a big score on the board due to their lack of bowling resources.
Raina scored 68 runs in the first game against Kolkata but failed in the second one so it will dependent on the skipper to turn things around for the side. Gujarat main problem is their bowling as Dhawal Kulkarni has looked his best while Praveen Kumar, Shivil Kaushik and Tejas Baroka have all gone for plenty of runs without any wickets. Ravendra Jadeja and Munaf Patel could come in place of Baroka and Basil Thampi to add experience to the bowling lineup.
Rising Pune Supergiant started off the well this season with a win over Mumbai Indians but suffered back to back defeats due to their poor bowling efforts. Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and Ben Stokes have scored runs for the side while the rest have been ordinary. Steven Smith and Manoj Tiwary are set to return for this game after being absent for the last game. MS Dhoni needs to find form as he is under the hammer for his rusty show with the bat in the coming games to provide more runs to the side in the last five overs. Imran Tahir has been superb while Ashok Dinda and Deepak Chahar have been poor. Ben Stokes and Adam Zampa have taken wickets while conceding a lot of runs in the games played so far.
It should be cracking contest on Friday between Gujarat Lions vs Rising Pune Supergiants.
