South Africa vs Pakistan

The seventh game of Champions Trophy will be played on 7th June at 18:30 IST.

Pakistan will be pretty hurt after a thrashing received at the hand of India in the first game at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Sarfaraz-led side is currently lying at eight in the ICC ODI Team Rankings after string of poor performances against top sides for the last three years.

To add to the woes, Bangladesh has become a better side and has produced better results in comparison to green shirts who reached heights of success in limited overs format when lifting 1992 Cricket World Cup under Imran Khan. Sarfaraz will look back at the game against India as captaincy and tactics were totally wrong. The bowlers failed miserably with only Muhammad Amir bowling tidy spells. Wahab Riaz is out of the competition as left-arm quick conceded 10 runs an over against strong Indian batting lineup. Ahmed Shehzad will be dropped as Fakhar Zaman is going to be tried as opener. Shadab Khan might be replaced by Faheem Ashraf and Riaz will be replaced by Junaid Khan.

Pakistan only shining light came in the form of Azhar Ali who produced a run-a ball half century against India while experienced players like Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik failed to score runs in the first game.

South Africa came out on top in the first game against Sri Lanka at the Oval. Hashim Amla led the way with the bat as opener notched up his 25 ton while Faf du Plessis, David Miller played pivotal roles in the innings to see the side score over 300 runs. Chris Morris, Morne Morkel bowled well while Wayne Parnell and Kagiso Rabada were poor in their early spells with Sri Lanka getting off to a great start.

AB de Villiers will be keen to make big runs after failing to score runs in the first game against Sri Lanka. South Africa is a better side than Pakistan and is highly tipped to win this contest as the side has already notched up two points.
