Nottinghamshire vs Somerset-2017 NatWest T20 Blast
Hosts Nottinghamshire will lock horns against Somerset in the third quarterfinal of the competition.
NatWest Blast T20 is already in its knockout phase as Nottinghamshire will battle it out against Somerset in the third quarter-final. Nottinghamshire finished top of the table in the North Group while Somerset just manage to sneak through the knockout stages of the competition. It will be an interesting game as both sides will be keen to produce their best cricket
Outlaws started the season on a slow note with defeats in their first two games. The side quickly turned things around to win eight games out of their next 10 fixtures to finish on top in North Group. Alex Hales and Riki Wessels have been highest runs scorer for the side as openers have enjoyed destroying bowling attacks in the competition. Hales is an established player in the T20 circuit as Nottinghamshire will hope that he showcases his best performance in this must-win game against Somerset. He has scored 471 runs so far for the side in the T20 competition.
Brendan Taylor, Samit Patel and Dan Christian all are in good form and can be destructive on their day. It might be another high scoring affair as Trent Bridge has produced some placid pitches in the competition. Nottinghamshire will have advantage as they play at home and know the conditions very well.
Samit Patel has been decent with the ball. Jake Ball, Ish Sodhi and Gurney have been doing well in the games played so far. The left-arm spin of Patel might be crucial in the high scoring clash expected on Thursday.
The main area of concern for Somerset has been their batting lineup as none of top five have gone past 300 runs in the competition. James Hildreth and Johann Myburgh have been top run getters for the side in the competition as Somerset will rely on those to chip in big with performances.
Peter Trego and Jim Allenby are good batsmen who can certainly produce something special given this is a knockout game. Roelof Van der Merwe and Max Waller have picked 15 wickets apiece as spin combination and have been economical in the competition.
Prediction: Nottinghamshire favorites to win at home
