Rajasthan Royals face a do-or-die clash when they take on table-toppers Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018 at Jaipur on Friday. Royals need to win all their remaining four matches to stay in hunt for play-offs. Another loss will see them crash out of the race for play-offs. For CSK, they need another win to confirm their play-off berth. Raguramtips takes a look at the strengths and weaknesses of the two teams, prediction of RR vs CSK clash at Jaipur on Friday.

Rajasthan Royals strengths

Jos Buttler’s top form

Jos Buttler of RR played 82 runs innings off 58 balls against KXIP. (IPLT20)

The England keeper has been a late bloomer in IPL 2018 as he received the chance to open just few matches ago and in all those three games, he has cracked three fifties. Buttler’s top form acted as a catalyst for Royals to put up a better show and outclass KXIP in the last game and stay in hunt for a play-off berth. Royals would be expecting that Buttler continues with his top form in the next few matches as well to keep his team in the hunt.

Rajasthan Royals weaknesses

Inconsistent batting line-up

Barring Buttler, Royals batting has been a big letdown. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes have not been able to put up big scores consistently. Stokes has been a big flop with both bat and ball. He was a big hit with RPS last season. But this time, Stokes looks rusty and jaded. Rahane, Samson would have to take more responsibility while leading the batting attack.

Chennai Super Kings strengths

Batting and bowling firepower

CSK have ticked all the boxes so far. They have a top-class opening pair in Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu who have delivered the goods so far with the bat. MS Dhoni is providing the finishing touch to the innings on a consistent basis. Their bowlers Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja came to the party in the last clash, taking five wickets for 40 runs against RCB in 8 overs. Lungi Ngidi, Dwayne Bravo provide the depth to the bowling attack. Overall, CSK look the most sorted team out in the competition.

Chennai Super Kings weaknesses

Over-reliance on few players

CSK have no weaknesses as such but over-reliance on few players can be their undoing. CSK rely heavily on Dhoni to finish off the innings on a high. If Dhoni fails, the other under-performing players with the bat such as Jadeja, Bravo may struggle to finish off the innings. CSK also need to ward of complacency as it is the business end of the tournament. They would not like to keep things to the last to qualify for a play-off berth.

Battles to watch out for

Jos Buttler vs Lungi Ngidi

Buttler is in roaring form, hitting three consecutive fifties. Lungi Ngidi has also been effective with the new ball. He will be up against Buttler as both will open their innings with bat and ball. So, will Buttler go all out against Ngidi or play out the South African’s spell? Who will triumph in this battle?
