Gujarat Lions vs Kings XI Punjab
The Indian Premier League will see an interesting battle between two teams in the bottom half of the points table as Gujarat host Kings XI Punjab at Rajkot in the 26th game of Indian Premier League. Gujarat will be relieved after Suresh Raina led them to a much needed win over in-form Kolkata Knight Riders. Suresh Raina was the star of the show with the bat and was helped by brisk cameos by openers Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum.
Raina single-handedly won the game for his team while Kolkata Knight Riders would be rue the fact they missed crucial chances to see Gujarat cross the line and chase down the target within 20 overs. James Faulkner came in for Andrew Tye and did a decent job but this game should see Tye get back into the side as Australian all-rounder numbers for Gujarat in the tenth edition cannot be ignored. The rest of the bowling lineup has been a mixed bag.
Kings XI Punjab did show improvement with the bat but Mumbai turned out to be better side as Jos Buttler and Nitish Rana were belligerent in their stroke play to dismiss the visiting side’s bowling to all parts of the ground.Hashim Amla produced a memorable innings to score his maiden ton in T20 cricket while Glenn Maxwell chipped in with a quick-fire score. Eoin Morgan and David Miller look in woeful touch as they were dropped to make way for Shaun Marsh and Marcus Stoinis for the game. Stoinis is a quality all-rounder that provides extra options with bat and ball. Kings XI need to produce a better collective effort with the bat to remain relevant in the race to qualify for the playoffs of the league this time around. Kings XI needs guys like Axar Patel, Mohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma did pull their weight for the next games which could certainly decide the side’s fate in the competition.
