Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Gujarat Lions:
Royal Challengers Bangalore will play Gujarat Lions in a must win game after the washout in the previous game against Sunrisers. The last year’s finalist could find themselves the first team to go out of the competition after managing just two wins out of eight games played in Indian Premier League 2017. The hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore will feel a little better as they face Gujarat Lions who are reeling at the bottom half of the table.
Royal Challengers had forgettable game against Kolkata where they were dismissed for just 49 runs inside 10 overs while Gujarat bowling has been their weakness as they have conceded over 170 runs in all the games played so far in this edition of IPL. Suresh Raina would have to give a rethink about his bowling combinations as he clearly showed his displeasure about their poor performance time and again in every game.
AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli will have to stand up for Bangalore if side wants to make it to the playoffs otherwise it could be disappointing season for a side who has dubbed to win the crown this year after superlative performances last season. Mandeep Singh, Kedhar Jadhav, Shane Watson and Chris Gayle have been good in patches. The hosts also have find it tough as surface at Bengaluru has been slow and produced variable bounce opposite to its nature to be a true batting paradise.
Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik are in-form batsmen for Gujarat as troika will have to produce something special to turn things around for the side for remainder of the competition. Ravendra Jadeja has been poor in the games so far but Basil Thampa looks promising in the few games he played for Gujarat. Dwayne Smith has been out of favor as Aaron Finch is now designated opener with James Faulkner included in the side to provide more strength to bowling attack.
