Rising Pune Supergiants vs Gujarat Lions
Rising Pune Supergiants got off to great start with a win over two-time champions Mumbai Indians but then faltered in the next few games only to find the right combination in the last couple of games. The batting was not producing the goods as a unit as bowling looked lackluster to say the least. Pune had to dig deep and do a bit of soul search as they produced resilient performances to see themselves in the top half of the league with five wins under their belt. The Supergiants will fancy their chances against Gujarat Lions who fell to another close defeat as Jaspreet Bumrah sealed the win for Mumbai in Super-over after game had ended in a tie.
Gujarat have only produced three wins so far but it has been their bowling that has looked weak besides Andrew Tye incredible run of form with the ball. Lions have shown a collective effort with the bat as they have too much reliance on Suresh Raina, Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum to do bulk of the scoring. Ishan Kishan is a promising young player who top scored against Gujarat but lack of runs down the order cost them the game.
Gujarat Lions will hope to win this game and gain necessary momentum for the coming fixtures as Suresh Raina will try his might to make sure side does sneak into the last four of the competition. Brendon McCullum will be a key player for the side as he usually steps up to the plate in a crunch situation or tight game. Ravendra Jadeja must do more with bat as all-rounder has looked jaded in the competition while playing for Gujarat Lions. Fielding is another facet that will be important as to who comes out on top in clash of two strong batting lineups with little to talk about their bowling.
