Match Information

The Hurricanes have now won their last five matches and are in the top half of the table for the first time. The Strikers, on the other hand, lost their last match to the Scorchers pretty convincingly and will want to recover quickly from that.

The loss of Travis Head for the remainder of the tournament has made the  Strikers a lot more vulnerable than they looked just a couple of matches back. Head was their best batsman and while he did not have a great Big Bash season this time around, his presence was enough to keep the opposition on their toes.Head was also the captain of this side and it remains to be seen what kind of a job Colin Ingram will do or how his own batting will react to this added pressure. The last match was a poor loss for the Adelaide Strikers but we would avoid looking too much into it. The pitch was tacky and not conducive to stroke play. The Strikers, who batted first in the match, ended up being at a significant disadvantage.

The Strikers batting lineup now has Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Colin Ingram, Jonathan Wells, and Jake Lehman as the top-5. These are all decent players and a couple of them have scored some decent runs this season as well. They do not, however, appear to be a lineup that will give the opposition nightmares.Every team that plays the Strikers will know that it is their bowling that must be seen as the bigger threat. Thanks to the brilliance of Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, and the searing pace of Billy Stanlake, the Adelaide Strikers have three players capable of bringing them into the game at any moment.Even Neser and Siddle are two very good bowlers ensuring that the opposition batsmen do not have any easy overs to target.

The Hobart are now at third place in the league table, immediately below the  Strikers. A win in this match will leave them joint leaders on points with the Perth Scorchers, a feat that would be truly remarkable for the team that was everyone’s whipping boy last season. The reason behind this amazing rise has to be the form of Darcy Short. He top scored with 59 runs once again and now has 465 runs in the tournament from 7 innings. It is an astonishing return that shows no signs of abating.Consider the fact that best McDermott is the next best batsman in terms of runs and is totalling just 175 runs to get an idea of the dominance that  Short has displayed. It is difficult to say how the Hobart will respond to an early dismissal of Short but as of now, it is not something that they need to worry about.

The superstar for the Hobart in the bowling side of things is  Archer. He has bowled with pace and control to help exert plenty of control over the opposition batsmen and been well supported by Tymal Mills, Daniel Christian, and Clive Rose.A side that is winning and feeling good is very difficult to come up against and right now the Hurricanes seem to have that X-factor about them, We think they are a team that is on the rise while the  Strikers have some more problems to take care of at the moment.

Pitch Information

Crystal clear weather has been forecast for Adelaide and so we should have no trouble getting a full match in. The pitch at the Adelaide Oval has been excellent for batting and the small boundaries have meant that plenty of big hits have been hit at the ground. More of the same can be expected.
