Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore would play for pride when the two clash at Feroz Shah Kotla in IPL 2018 on Saturday. DD vs RCB promises a thrilling contest. Both Delhi and Bangalore are out of the race for play-offs. Now, the race is between the bottom-placed teams to not to finish last. Both Delhi Daredevils and RCB have three wins out of 11 and 10 games respectively. raguramtips takes a look at strengths and weaknesses of the two teams Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore, prediction of DD vs RCB clash on Saturday.
Rishabh Pant has been in terrific form, slamming a brilliant ton in the last clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but in a losing cause. He has struck three fifties and one ton so far. Other players such as Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson too are in great touch with the bat and would look to do well to salvage some pride in the competition. Delhi have played well overall, but results have not gone their way. Pant would go for the kill once again to exercise his supremacy with the bat.
Delhi have suffered due to poor bowling woes. They have changed and chopped and struggled to come up with perfect bowling combination. Trent Boult, Liam Plunkett have been inconsistent after showing initial promise. They conceded over 40 runs in the loss against SRH. The spinners – Amit Mishra, Shahbaz Nadeep – too have been unable to bowl well in tandem. SRH need to sort out their bowling woes before giving tough challenge to a strong batting line-up of RCB.
They have one of the best batting line-ups in IPL 2018, but they have failed to perform consistently. They are highly dependent on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. If the two fire, RCB would be in a great position to win the match. Kohli need to lead from the front to give a tough fight to Delhi’s strong, but under-performing bowlers. ABD too need to pitch in and support Kohli to take the team to a position of strength. RCB batting need to raise their game in the last few matches left to stay above the bottom of points table.
Be it RCB’s batting or bowling, both have been inconsistent to the core. If RCB bowlers had made amends and did well, the batting has let the team down. In fact, RCB bowling and batting have never fired in unison to thrash an opposition. RCB must put up a team effort to give tough challenge to opponents in the remaining few matches and salvage some pride for themselves.
The two have been the star performers for their respective teams. Pant has been the highest run-getter in the tournament so far, hitting three fifties and one ton. Umesh has been brilliant with the new ball, being one of the top wicket-takers in the tournament so far. It will be exciting to see how Pant tackles the pace, bounce of Umesh Yadav. Who will win this battle?
