Hobart Hurricanes vs Brisbane Heat, 29th Match at Bellerive Oval, Hobart :Visitors look too strong for Hobart Cricket Betting Tips
The Hobart Hurricanes and the Brisbane Heat will lock horns for the second time in five days and we are expecting an equally exciting encounter as the first one. The Hobart Hurricanes won that encounter to extend their winning streak to four but Brisbane Heat was in the match till the last ball. Will the controversy regarding the Alex Ross run-out spur the Heat on in this match or will Darcy Short continue to bat like a million dollars?
The last victory against the Brisbane Heat was the fourth in a row for the Hurricanes, all of them with a margin of fewer than 10 runs. They seem to have made it a habit to win these close encounters but would definitely prefer to leave themselves a little more room for error.
The entire Hurricanes batting performance in the last match was about Darcy Short. He continued his amazing form in the tournament to break the record for the highest individual score as he raced to 122 not out.
He benefitted from a couple of chances but that should not take anything away from the power and precision he displayed all throughout. What was more interesting to us was to see that the next highest score after Darcy Short was 19 by Ben McDermott. The Hurricanes have a strong batting lineup but it is clear that the impact of Darcy Short cannot be discounted.
Their bowling also did pretty well thanks to some excellent spin bowling by Cameron Boyce and Darcy Short himself. Tymal Mills’s bowling would be a concern for the Hurricanes because he consistently gives away loose deliveries and has not been half as effective as would be expected.
Jofra Archer, on the other hand, has quickly established himself as the lead bowler of this side and will continue to play a major role in their campaign going ahead.
Brendon McCullum would be very disappointed at having fallen short of the target considering that he and Heazlett started very well and set up a decent platform to build on. A big inning was sorely lacking from the Heat as almost all their batsmen got starts but then got out.
The controversy surrounding Alex Ross being adjudged obstructing the field visibly agitated McCullum, something that is pretty hard to do. We think that the Brisbane Heat will be chomping at the bit for a rematch and hope to settle scores in this encounter.
Now that Chris Lynn has been ruled out of the BBL for the next few weeks, McCullum, Burns, and Alex Ross will have to take up the responsibility of guiding this batting order. There is plenty of power in this lineup even without Lynn especially now that Ben Cutting seems to have found a different gear to his batting.
All that is needed is a little bit more discipline in the field and some sensible decisions while batting to bring this team back on course.
Their bowling is pretty good also and even though Yasir Shah did not take a wicket in the last game, he and Swepson were the only two bowlers to keep the opposition batsmen somewhat quiet. Ben Cutting bowled his full quota of overs for the first time as well and that will allow McCullum some more flexibility while planning his tactics for this match.
Brisbane knows that it needs to take the wicket of Darcy Short early but that is far from the only threat they have facing them. Their spinners have to lead the attack since Doggett and Steketee have struggled to keep the runs down or take too many wickets.
A 20% chance of rain has been forecast for match day in Hobart but things should increase by the time the match is about to get underway. We are confident that a full 20 over contest will be played out. The pitch at the Bellerive Oval has been absolutely stunning to bat on and the short boundary on one side of the wicket makes it even more difficult for the bowlers.
Expect an absolute run-fest in this one.
- Both teams boast of a strong batting lineup but the Hurricanes are perhaps a little too dependant on Darcy Short
- Hobart Hurricanes have beaten Brisbane Heat in 6 out of their last 8 matches
- Brisbane Heat has a better balanced batting order in our opinion although there is not too much to chose between the sides
