Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, 1st T20, R Premadasa Colombo
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will fight it out in a two-match T20 series after closely contested affair in one day and test series. Hosts will lock horns against visitors at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Bangladesh will play out the final leg of the tour after playing well in the test followed by one day series.
Bangladesh has picked uncapped all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin who exceptionally well for Bangladesh Under-23 in ACC Emerging Team Cup. Shuvagata Hom and Rubel Hossain have gone back home after not taking part in the one day series. Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal are experienced players who had a decent record in the format.
Sri Lanka selector Sanath Jayasuriya has axed Kusal Mendis from the T20 squad whereas Thisara Perera makes a comeback into the setup. Shehan Jayasuriya who did for Sri Lanka in a T20 game also finds a place in the squad.
Sachith Pathirana and Dinesh Chandimal will also not take part in the two-match series while Kusal Perera is fit and raring to go for Sri Lanka. Sandun Weerakkody is another keeper in the squad while Upul Tharanga will once again lead Sri Lanka in the series.
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza was fined for slow overate in the last one day game against Sri Lanka. The bowling all-rounder is all set to miss the next one day game against Ireland in a tri-nation tournament held in May. Lasith Malinga could prove to be handful as Bangladesh will face tough proposition as he is death overs expert in the format. Asela Gunaratne is another player to watch out helping his side pull off T20 series win in South Africa and then Australia in February.
Mohammad Saifuddin could get the nod ahead of either Mehedi Miraaz or Mosaddek Hossain as all will depend in the conditions for the first game at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
